Mark Mayambela

Orlando Pirates Football Club has secured the services of Mark Mayambela from Bloemfontein Celtic.

Mayambela (22), joins the Buccaneers after the two clubs agreed on a swap deal which sees left wing Bennet Chenene heading the opposite direction.

Speaking to for the first time, Mayambela said: "Im very happy that I have finally signed for Pirates."

Now that Im here, its my responsibility to reward club management for the faith theyve shown in acquiring my services.

Although he made his debut in the 2007/08 season, the following season would be the one where Mayambela would burst into the scene for Phunya Sele Sele. It is during the 2008/09 campaign where the lanky yet skillful midfielder dazzled the crowd with his ball skills and soon became a fan favorite. His play down the left flank was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise dark season for a Celtic side that nearly saw them relegated.

The left footer appeared in 25 Absa Premiership matches and scored three goals in the process in his first full season in the Absa Premiership. Last season however, he made only fifteen appearances for Celtic (5 starts / 10 off the bench), scoring no goal in the process.

Mayambela is a product of the Old Mutual Football Academy and was snapped up by Bloemfontein Celtic midway through the 2007/08 season.

He made his debut against Ajax Cape Town and had three starts in the 2007/08 Absa Premiership.
